PayPal is the provider we use to handle credit and debit card payments. You do not have to have a PayPal account to use your debit or credit card to pay via PayPal. If it is impossible to access PayPal in your country, please let us know, as you may be able to pay using an alternative (e.g. Stripe).

We would like it to be cheaper. However, when planning for a group of anywhere between 70-150 people, it is difficult to balance the required quality and costs. A primary objective is not to lose money, as we cannot afford this optional event to reduce the limited funds of our organisation, and undermine its wider services to other members
(and non-members). We have to set the pricing so that costs are covered, even if we get a poor turnout, or if a bus is only partly filled. Hotels that can accommodate groups of 100, and handle a conference day, a seated meal, parking for three buses, and have good transport connections, all come at a cost. We considered simpler University-style single accommodation, but even this isn't cheap, and for couples split in two single rooms, the combined costs are greater than a hotel. If you are single, we can put you in touch with other people looking to share a twin room and so save costs.
If any profits are made by the symposium, these go into the running of the Society, and have in many cases provided crucial funding for our activities (including the website, plant database, and New Waterlily Competition) which still depend on many hours of unpaid volunteer work.

Yes, if you are staying at the hotel during the main symposium, remember to register your car at the front desk when you check in and note that you will need parking to the end of day on the 20 th . You will then receive the IWGS free parking rate.

If you are booking for the main symposium and the pre- or post-symposium, and require accommodation in the hotel on the night of the 11th and/or 16th , do not use the online form but contact the hotel directly.

Click on the provided hotel reservation link. Booking your room is simple, just select "Book a Room" to receive the IWGS preferred rate. The booking period defaults from Monday August 11 to Saturday morning August 16th. If you need to change these dates to a fewer days:

• Click on the EDIT STAY button at the top of the page 
• Next, click on the date you wish to change. A calendar will pop up displaying the default dates.
• IMPORTANT: Click on the calendar date, and then holding your mouse on the selected date, drag the mouse to identify the dates you need. Release the mouse and then click on the end date again. You MUST start at the arrival date and finish at the checkout date. 
• If you are still having trouble selecting the dates, please contact us. The hotel has suggested you register your booking before calling, as it will be easier for them to access your reservation and adjust the dates.
